Reporting to the State Contracts Manager, the Youth Mentoring Program (YM) Coordinator leads the implementation of the YM program.
The YM Coordinator will promote civic and social engagement and support individual educational and vocational advancements for eligible youth between the ages of 15 and 24 within communities served by Global Refuge.

DUTIES
- Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate client-centered, trauma-informed support.
- Provide case management, including an initial assessment of the needs and goals of the youth.
- Develop plan to meet those needs through educational and vocational services, social services and other activities.
- Refer youth to relevant services and activities and facilitate access.
- Document services and activities provided.
- Assess progress for each participant in meeting their goals.
- Recruit mentors, especially members of the relevant ethnic communities.
- Screen and train mentors on how to support youth.
- Partner with higher education and job training programs to provide youth with pathways towards completing or enhancing their education.
- Gather and report statistics for the program as required.
- Thoroughly document all meetings with clients and volunteers.
- Compile programmatic reports as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in public policy, economics, social sciences or related field or three years of experience providing community engagement, case management and / or social services preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of refugee resettlement systems, or other relevant cross cultural experiences a plus.
- Ability to maintain a pleasant, customer-centered demeanor and professional image under a variety of challenging situations.
- Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel and database programs.
- Ability to work as a team member and independently, with high level of self-motivation.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability, relationship building, community outreach, and cultivating networks.
- Exceptional presentation, training, and facilitation skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
- Desire to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Must have reliable transportation, clean driving record, and valid insurance and be able to travel locally as required.
- Cross-cultural or international experience preferred.
- Deep commitment to Global Refuge's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
