We are looking for passionate, driven and talented DFCS Child Protective Service (CPS) Case Managers who want to not only impact but change the lives of our children for a better tomorrow.
Child Protective Services (CPS) strives to ensure safe, permanent, nurturing families for children by protecting them from abuse and neglect while attempting to preserve the family unit.
CPS helps prevent further harm to children from intentional physical or mental injury, sexual abuse, exploitation or neglect by a person responsible for a child's health or welfare.
CPS also protects children who have no parent, guardian or custodian to provide care and supervision, or whose parents, guardians or custodian are unable to provide care or supervision and lacks an appropriate alternative childcare arrangement.
CPS staff accomplish these services through:
- Assessing suspected cases of abuse and neglect
- Assisting the family in identifying the problem
- Providing in-home counseling and supportive services to help children stay at safety home with their families
- Coordinating community and agency services for the family
- Petitioning the court for removal of the child, if necessary
- Providing public information about child abuse, neglect and dependency
Qualifications
- Must have DFCS CPS Case Management experience- Required
- Must be familiar with SHIMES- Required
- Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License and Insurance
- Ability to travel locally, and out of the area, in the execution of professional duties, trainings and/or conferences.
- Ability to adapt to irregular hours, perform some light lifting, and have schedule flexibility.
- Ability to operate a computer, sit for long periods of time, and develop coherent written correspondence and progress notes.

- Coweta, Georgia
Education/Experience:
- MUST HAVE a bachelor's degree in a Human Service Field-Social work - Required
- Must have DFCS CPS Case Management experience - Required
- Must be familiar with SHIMES- Required
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to drive both locally and throughout the assigned counties in connection with the duties of this position.
- Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
- Familiarity with and the ability to use Microsoft Office programs Word and Excel.
- To fully understand case ownership responsibilities as the integrator of all services and supports identified for each child, including therapy, other mental health services, health and dentistry, developmental services, education support, permanency and safety; as well as their responsibility to make trauma sensitive transitions when it is determined that a caretaker lacks the needed level of responsibility to care for their children.
