Position Function:
Supervises shop employees in a manufacturing setting who are operating CNC Mill Turn machines to produce machined parts. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
Essential Job Functions:

- Work from a production schedule to execute throughput of high-volume components and plan the use of resources.
- Responsibilities involve following up on set up, scheduling operators, review production status, troubleshoot equipment, ensure quality and delivery.
- Coordinates production between departments. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find solutions with production bottlenecks is needed.
- Work efficiently to achieve targeted goals as set by the production schedule.
- Ability to operate the Mill Turn machines while overseeing the other operators
- Properly and safely loads and unloads materials in CNC machinery
- Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
- Ability to setup, operate and troubleshoot CNC without assistance. Must be self-sufficient.
- Ability to reduce setup time and machining through process improvements
- Must be proficient with FANUC controls, HAAS controls, or Mazak controls
- Understands, interprets and edits G-code programs.
- Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.
- Understands and has the ability to perform tool wear offsets.
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery.
- Assists in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment.
- Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
- Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
- Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management.
- Attends scheduled meetings and actively participates by providing meaningful input
- Is flexible with time and schedule to assure availability to customer or company as circumstances warrant.
- Communicates honestly, professionally and respectfully with others and demonstrates effective listening skills.
- Supervisory skills- Supervises CNC Operators. Promotes a team environment within the department. Cooperates and assists all departments in resolving issues as related to jobs. Communicates directly with the Mill Turn Manager on all employee issues.
Training Requirements:
- All new hires are required to go through mandated on the job orientation.
- Comply with Quality requirements.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Past experience training, developing, disciplining, reviewing and motivating employees is needed.
- Working knowledge of computers and computer systems
- 5 years machining experience
- At least 3 years of set up experience on CNC Mill/Turn or CNC Mill Equipment
- Blueprint reading and first piece inspection knowledge

Physical Considerations:
- Ability to move or transfer products.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required.
- Ability to use hand truck to move drums of oil/coolant.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
