Summary
The Director, Human Resources position directs human resource functions including staffing, employee orientation, education, and training, management development, employee and labor relations, policies and procedures, workers compensation administration, wage and salary administration, benefits administration, organization development, and employee assistance. This position maintains ultimate responsibility for the success of each team under the Human Resources Department.
Responsibilities
- Primary
- Represent the Human Resources department to the Executive Team and other Divisions; explain and interpret Human Resources Department programs, policies, and activities; negotiate and resolve sensitive, significant, and controversial issues with Executive Leadership
- Confers with organization officials to plan business objectives, to develop organizational policies, and to coordinate specific functions
- Evaluates human relations and work-related problems and meets with supervisors, managers, and executives to determine effective remediation techniques, such as job skill training or personal intervention, to resolve human relations issues among personnel
- Talks informally with establishment personnel and attends meetings to facilitate effective interpersonal communication among participants and to ascertain human relations and work-related problems that adversely affect employee morale and establishment productivity
- Directs staff personnel who assist in identifying, evaluating, and resolving human relations and work performance problems within establishment to facilitate communication and improve employee human relations skills and work performance
- Lead the organization and HR staff to execute organization-wide and location-specific HR initiatives
- Provide clear instructions on HR department goals, objectives, mission and KPI
- Review and approve or deny HR requests and/or initiatives
- Leads Union avoidance initiatives on behalf of the organization

- Pro-actively obtain, interpret and present metrics and analysis to business leaders to inform decisions (performance, attrition, hiring, vacancy, employee engagement/sensing, and other data)
- Responsible for training to instruct establishment managers, supervisors, and workers in human relation skills, such as supervisory skills, conflict resolution skills, interpersonal communication skills, and effective group interaction skills
- Participate in labor contract negotiations with the assistance of Legal Counsel
- Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations

Compensation Range
$170,000- $190,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications - Required
- Personnel and Human Resources Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
- Administration and Management Knowledge of principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
- Judgment and Decision Making Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
- Speaking Talking to others to convey information effectively
- Deductive Reasoning The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- 8 - 12 Years of Experience in Human Resources and Leadership Required
- 10 Years of Indirect Experience Required
- 4 - 7 Years of Supervisory Experience Required
- PHR or SHRM-CP Certification Required
- Experience in Employment Law and Leadership Training Preferred
