POSITION SUMMARY:

The acquisition of product to meet or exceed turns, service level and cost objectives of the department.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Effectively purchase items and/or materials for which the Buyer is responsible while achieving budgeted inventory levels, turns and service rate levels
• Ensure that all Purchase Orders are placed on time to meet production demands
• Develop and meet cost reduction programs as assigned
• Monitor supplier competitiveness and the total competitive environment to ensure maximum service and profitability
• Maintain effective communication with suppliers to resolve delivery/receiving issues
• Attend meetings with suppliers when needed to manage department/buyer’s expectations
• Issue and maintain Purchasing Agreements and Addendums
• Manage and update system inputs to keep lead time, order quantities and pricing information accurate
• Assist team with achieving business goals
• Special projects and other assignments as needed
  • Collaborate with all business entities to plan and purchase inventory to expected service levels
  • Develop purchase and exit strategies to manage to inventory and open to buy requirements.
  • Participate in inventory initiatives, as required
  • Provide order forecasts to vendors, as required
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
• 2 years of retail buying or planning experience or an equivalent combination of education/experience
• Analytical ability to track and purchase inventories in an appropriate time frame
• High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
• Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to work overtime as necessary
