Job Description Development Director

In collaboration with Elyria Christian School Administration, the Development Director is
responsible for planning, organizing and managing all development, marketing and fundraising
efforts. The Development Director will be a part of the Administration team and will report
directly to the Lead Administrator. The person in this position is expected to:

  • Develop and implement a strategic marketing and development plan.
  • Develop and build relationships with churches, businesses, and other appropriate
organizations.
  • Plan and execute programs to build a broad base of corporate, church, and
individual financial support.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to promote an expanding and
positive public awareness of ECS.
  • Identify and pursue appropriate grant opportunities and planned giving strategies.
  • Develop and implement a strategic event and fundraising plan.
  • Develop a special event/fundraising calendar.
  • Oversee and coordinate all special events and fundraising efforts.
  • Develop new and/or strengthen existing events and fundraisers.
  • Develop and coordinate a systematic method of thanking donors.
  • Develop and implement a plan to increase participation by Alumni in the ECS
community and attendance at events.
  • Develop and implement a strategic student recruitment plan.
  • Build and maintain a database of potential school families.
  • Establish contact with and supply relevant information to area churches.
  • Be in regular contact with potential school families.
  • Assist the Administration in new student enrollment.
  • Ensure that all development, event, marketing and fundraising activities are consistent
with the mission, vision and faith statements of Elyria Christian School.
