What are the responsibilities and job description for the HCA/Caregiver position at Goal Line Home Care?

Goal Line Home Care Aides provide companionship, personal care and any non medical HCA services provided in accordance with the plan of Care (POC). With superior guidance, HCA provides any ADL needed to provide comfort for clients in the home.

GLHC Expectations:

Follows GLHC Policy, Procedure and Guidelines
Performs tasks under guidance of managers / owners
Follows establish Plan of Care (POC)
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job Must be able to perform effectively with the demands of the position

Home care services include, but are not limited to:

ADLs
Meal planning and preparation of healthy, nutritious meals according to POC

Feeding
Personal hygiene and grooming

Bathing

Dressing
Toileting and incontinence Exercising
Positioning
Transferring / Ambulating Companionship

Learn and assist client with hobbies

Take client on walks, trips to social / recreational activities Housekeeping duties and laundry.

**Light housekeeping including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning

dishes, changing bed linens, laundry, and cleaning bathrooms Making phone calls
Transportation

HCA may use his/her own vehicle or clients’ vehicle to provide transportation

Run errands / Grocery Shopping ( must be reported to the office and document) Medication Reminder

** An HCA may remind clients to take their medication; however, they may not directly provide it to the client. A HCA may instruct clients to fill a pillbox per their physician’s instructions but cannot fill the pillbox for them. There is no “medication waiver” that will allow the HCO or HCA legal authority to assist with or provide medication.

GLHC 102

Goal Line Home Care Aide ( HCA) are responsible for writing accurate documentation of services provides in the Client Care record binder.

Home care services DO NOT include any medical services such as:

Diabetic insulin shots
Catheter care
Bed sore treatment
Physical therapy
Glucose readings (blood sugar) Tube feedings and care

Sterile Dressing
Application of heat in any form Tracheotomy tune care
IV insertions
Blood pressure
Ventilator dependent care

Colostomy bag care
Vital signs
Post-surgery, wound care
Medication assistance / Administering Oral meds, medicated eye drops, medicated skin ointments

Suctioning of the nose, mouth, tracheotomy
Nail Care
Any personal health services that has not been listed on the task sheet

There is no waiver or any other type of consent that removes this prohibition as medical services may only be administered and provided by an authorized medical professional or agency.

GLHCA DO NOT:

  • Heavy-duty household cleaning such as washing walls / windows, waxing floors, etc. • Household repairs maintenance
  • Yard Care or maintenance

The HCA does NOT contact the clients’ physician directly. All questions or change(s) to a clients condition should be reported immediately to the office at 619-328-2266.

Education / Skills Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED certificate
  • Successful completion of written competency evaluation
  • Successful completion of an approved course on Personal Care, Body Mechanics, and

Infection Prevention and Control, Workplace Hazardous & Safety, and Medical Emergencies

& Emergency Preparedness

  • Annual Course completion

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.50 - $17.50 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Caregivers are to wear a mask at every shift. COVID 19 Vaccine Required. Exemption process is available.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • HCA (Preferred)
  • CADL (Preferred)
  • AUTO INSURANCE (Preferred)

Shift availability:

  • Day Shift (Preferred)
  • Night Shift (Preferred)
  • Overnight Shift (Preferred)

Work Location: On the road
