Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Program Description: The Baxter Safe Haven provides transitional housing to 75 adults experiencing homelessness with the goal of permanent housing. On-site services include case management, entitlement assistance, medical and psychiatric care, substance use counseling, group activities, meals, recreation, and 24 hour/7 day per week front desk security.
Purpose of Position: The Assistant Program Director is responsible for support and supervision to case managers, Housing Specialists, and Harm Reduction Specialists. Assist the Program director with daily operations as needed with the primary goal to help individuals achieve stable permanent housing using a harm reduction, housing first model.
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, rotating on-call 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

- Directly supervise and conduct consistent individual supervisions for 4 Case Managers, 2 Harm Reduction Specialists, and 2 Housing Specialists
- Be an active participant in the management team of The Baxter; displaying and participating in collaborative work for the good of the program.
- Participate and assist with running consistent Team Meetings: clinical staff meetings and in the absence of the Director, All staff meetings.
- Ensure ongoing staff training on client care issues, agency policies, best practices, and arrange for outside training as needed
- Oversee and respond to crisis situations and debrief with staff and clients
- Assist Director to prepare for all internal and external audits, including creating and reviewing submissions of Corrective Action Plans
- Facilitate standardization of program policies and procedures using a harm reduction and housing first model
- Ensure all incident reporting and follow up is done thoroughly and in a timely manner
- Ensure quality service provision including the utilization of evidenced based practices for client centered services
- Facilitate implementation of standardization of data collection methods, tracking, analysis and reporting of data.
- Be part of on call rotation
- Assist the Program Director to work closely with with DHS and other funders to achieve deliverable and adhere to all regulations and standards
- Liaison with on-site and off-site medical and psychiatric providers
- In the absence of the Program Director, oversee the daily operations of the Safe Haven.
- Collaborate with local precincts, community boards, local hospitals, and other CBO’s to best serve our clients
- Other duties as required
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- LMSW strongly preferred for SIFI instruction, BA in related field required
- Supervisory experience required
- Experience working within shelter, Safe Haven, or housing strongly preferred
- Experience with individuals with substance use/mental illness/unsheltered required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Understanding of a harm reduction and housing first model of housing

- Familiar with cloud-based payroll platforms such as Paycom (supervisor/manager functionality)
- Able to use or learn other electronic databases, programs, and funder-related software as needed
Physical Requirements
- Moderate computer work; occasional lifting of up to 30lbs, including client belongings; some walking and climbing stairs to visit clients and access community spaces
Work Environment
- Office in Safe Haven housing building where clients reside
