Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead SQL DBA to join our team in Maryland. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration, particularly with SQL Server. This is a contract position requiring onsite presence from day one, and we are seeking local candidates only.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead the administration and maintenance of SQL Server databases in a production environment.

· Design, implement, and optimize database structures and schemas.

· Perform database tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.

· Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.

· Manage database security, access controls, and permissions.

· Collaborate with developers and system administrators to ensure database availability and reliability.

· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs.

· Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in database administration.

Requirements:

· 10 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on SQL Server.

· Strong knowledge of database design principles, normalization, and indexing strategies.

· Proficiency in performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries and database operations.

· Experience with backup and recovery procedures, including High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.

· Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve database-related issues.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
