About our Role

In this job, you will provide electric Quality Control Field Assessments and technical support to our client’s Overhead and Underground Facilities throughout the client’s service territory in California. As Quality Control Specialist/ Electrical T&D Inspector your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions, and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities:

• Field Assessment Tasks- you will provide oversight activities related to the Quality Control (QC) inspection programs to include but not be limited to, field assessments of recently inspected assets. Conduct and document final inspections and/or assessments to assure compliance with the client’s Field Assessment Program, as well as Regulatory requirements including CPUC, GO95, GO165; and verify that the construction and design requirements have been achieved by performance of independent inspections.
• Experience with Access and apps on iPad.
• Perform independent and/or team assessments of work performed to assure previous inspection results are valid. Must visit each work location for quality and construction standards compliance.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvement opportunities/enhancements.
• When non-conformances /discrepancies from established inspection standards are identified, provide feedback, recommendations, and analysis (as applicable), to the responsible contractor, along with relevant client departments.
• Stay ahead of QC processes by participating in technical, safety, and program development training.
• Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following the client’s specifications, procedures, and standards.
• Attend and participate in job scheduling meetings, job specific briefs and safety tailboards
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information, both orally and in writing, to technical and non-technical personnel.
• Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The essentials:

• Qualified Electrical Workers (“QEW”), who possess background and knowledge and who complete the client’s inspector orientation training to perform inspections of transmission and distribution substation maintenance or construction.
• Qualified IBEW journeymen lineman who complete the client’s inspector orientation training to perform inspections hereunder.
• Must possess physical agility traits along with capabilities required by law and training to perform the work efficiently, effectively, and safely.
• Five or more years in inspections, Overhead Distribution Construction, electrical planning, groundman, apprentice lineman or related electrical utility field experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.

The preferred:

• Demonstrated experience performing close tolerance measurements with optical and/or laser measurements tools.
• Experience with dimensional modeling software.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, as well as the Internet and Email.
• Knowledge of Transmission & Distribution overhead design and construction standards.
• Broad knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and civil construction.
• Able to demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay up to date with relevant technology and innovation.

You should know ...

• This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to the client’s facility or field location.
• Position will require being out in the field, outdoors throughout the client’s service territory and may require overnight stays periodically
• Must be available weekends and holidays
• Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test
• All candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record
• IBEW Local 1245 union membership required
