SUMMARY: Assists in coordination of all functions for the banquet department. Supervises all banquet team members, as well as borrowed or temporary staff. Ensures customer service standards are attained. Assists in coordinating banquet functions with kitchen, sales and clients. Responsible for assisting the Banquet Manager in ensuring that the banquet department meets the operational and administrative responsibilities of the department as well as the financial goals.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Assist the Banquet Manager in overseeing the daily operations and administrative responsibilities of the banquet department, as well as the job responsibilities of the banquet staff.
  • Prepare all required paperwork, including BEO forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner.
  • Ensure the Food and Beverage customer service standards are attained at all times.
  • Make employment and termination recommendations including interviewing, hiring, and evaluating and disciplining with personnel as appropriate.
  • Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed when and as needed and labor cost objectives is met.
  • Responsible for following and enforcing banquet policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and violations of Casino policies, rules and procedures.
  • Oversee the training of banquet personnel in safe operation of all kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Responsible for training service area personnel in cleanliness and sanitation practices.
  • Operate the Point of Sale System (POS) in a timely and correct manner.
  • Provide pre-function briefings and table assignments to all banquet staff.
  • Keep up-to-date on Casino and banquet department promotions, able to inform customers in a comprehensive manner.
  • Assists Banquet Manager in ensuring that all banquet functions meet client expectations in accordance with the BEO.
  • Create and ensure correct placement of all banquet buffet line food labels and signage.
  • Follows and enforces all applicable food service health, safety regulations and procedures.
  • Attend meetings such as BEO, Promotions, etc., when needed.
  • Assist in creating and providing the client with accurate final billing at end of function, and input payment data into the POS system.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
  • Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to Banquet Kitchen Shift Supervisor.
  • Informs Kitchen Shift Supervisor immediately of product shortages.
  • Helps to keep all banquet service areas clean and tidy.
  • Cooperates with other staff of the department to ensure high quality of service.
  • Maintains a high standard of personal and professional hygiene.
  • Be accountable for and fully utilize EDGE, our guest experience program with each guest interaction.
  • Keep pace with completing internal EDGE observations, including coaching employees and data entry of weekly snapshots.
  • Performs other related duties as requested by Manager or Director.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises the activities of all banquet staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Gold Country’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning; and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience in banquets and/or catering departments preferred. Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimum supervision a must. Must show creativity in room set-up, an eye for detail, passion for banquet/guest service and a guest-first mentality. Knowledge of food safety governing and handling procedures required. Ability to lead banquet team through a positive disposition and excellent work ethic. Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and response to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public effectively and courteously.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Must have the ability to deal with problems, which may involve several concrete variables.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to communicate effectively. The individual is also regularly required to bend; stand; walk; sit; and use hand/eye coordination. The Individual must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. The individual may be required to stand for 8-10 hours.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. When on the Casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. The individual must be able to work in a fast paced environment and constantly keep customer satisfaction as their first priority.


The Casino is a smoking environment and the employee must be able to work in a smoke-filled atmosphere.
