RESPONSIBILITIES
The Golden Charter Academy is an innovative start-up charter school that opened in Fresno, CA in August 2021. It is a place-based, science-oriented school that emphasizes environmental stewardship, social justice, and equity. The instructional approach employs Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a strategy to provide successful pathways for student success in all learners. GCA has a formal partnership with the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, where students utilize the zoo as a living, educational laboratory.
The After-School Learning Guide will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of our student’s educational journey, while guiding and ensuring the safety of children as they engage in activities. They will assist with activity planning and receive special training to fully support kids' growth while on campus (mental, physical and emotional).

These duties shall be designed to complement the instructional program to maximize learning opportunities for the inclusion student. The Learning Guide will also assist in the establishment and implementation of appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior and assist students to access all aspects of the educational environment of GCA and the community.
- Serve as the primary point of support for a designated student or group of students in the daily application and implementation of academic guided practice and behavior intervention plan. Bridge gaps that may occur in classroom lessons, in conversations, and in skill development by getting to know the student and using that knowledge and experience to everyone’s benefit.
- As a team member working closely with a student, advocate appropriately to ensure the team is consistently implementing the instructional and behavior plans and to raise concerns about obstacles to successful implementation and student growth.
- Plans, leads, and implements programs for children while providing high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for students. Supervises students and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
- Assist in the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP’s).
- Facilitate and support social interactions and foster the development of positive relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers.
- Assist all students by modeling appropriate (G.O.L.D.E.N) behavior, attitudes and providing emotional support and general guidance.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and classroom information in accordance with legal requirements and GCA policies.
Education and Experience
- Two (2) years of completed study in an institution of higher education (preferred)
- At least one year of work experience in youth education OR at least two years of work experience in a field related to the company (preferred)
- Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple constituencies.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.64 per hour
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
