GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,292 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 40 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. As a Wind Turbine Technician at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will play a crucial role in the operation, maintenance, inspection, and testing of our wind turbine sites. Utilize your problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and repair turbines in the event of a fault or breakdown, ensuring optimal performance. Your responsibilities will also include updating and installing software into the turbine's operating system, showcasing your technical expertise. With the ability to work independently, you will be tasked with maintaining facilities at both the O&M building plant and the warm storage building receiving area in Ferry on both sides of the river.

To excel as a Wind Turbine Technician at Golden Valley Electric Association, candidates should possess a High School diploma or equivalent, along with technical training in the operation and maintenance of coal-fired power plant systems, heavy equipment, and material handling systems. Experience in a wind farm environment is essential, as is demonstrated proficiency in operating heavy equipment. A valid Alaska driver's license and first aid/CPR certification are required, with the ability to obtain ICC Medical Examiner's certification within six months of hire for commercial vehicle operation. Ideal candidates will have at least one year of experience performing operations and maintenance activities in an industrial facility, showcasing their technical skills and commitment to safety and excellence in the electric cooperative industry.
