WHAT YOU HAVE:

• 10 years’ experience in an agency or in-house communications position
• Leadership experience…you know how to make things happen and how to clear hurdles for teams
• Clear understanding of client priorities. You also understand internal client politics and dynamics and how that affects our work
• The ability to look at challenges from different angles to get to the best solutions
• You’re a storyteller who can influence not only the client but our internal team
• Energy! ...to move at the pace of retail and work in the moment, navigating shifting priorities and deadlines…you’re okay with grey and can help to create order out of chaos
• Experience grounded in traditional PR with an understanding of an integrated approach… your experience has been in executing communications strategies that help shape and influence public opinion
• Sensitivity to issues that affect clients’ reputations and brands
• Understanding and grasp of current events and national conversation around emerging socio-political issues like #MeToo, gun control, equal pay, etc.
• Familiarity with a broad suite of social media tools, including Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and others
• Experience working on political campaigns or with activist groups (e.g., environmental activists, food activists, etc.) a plus
• Experience working with retail accounts is preferred

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Golin is looking for a Senior Manager for our Issues and Crisis Team. Ideal candidates are media-minded and have experience leading the development of communications strategy and content on behalf of a client or company confronted with a reputation-threatening crisis.

 You will:

• Lead the development of communications strategy and content on behalf of a client or company confronted with a reputation-threatening crisis
• Work in a collaborative team, always putting the needs of your client first
• Serve as counsel to senior executives in a client or corporate communications setting
• Write media strategies and pitch, but also use your business acumen to understand your client and what we need to do to deliver a strategy.
• Work calmly in high-pressure, high-leverage situations
• Direct, mentor and lead teams in a fast-paced, demanding environment
• Manage budgets and staff plans
• Using your understanding of how content travels on social media, how people increase the profile and impact of their social media posts, and how certain types of content achieve “viral” status, you’ll develop and execute issues management plans
• Spot trends, monitor for emerging or active issues and “see around the corner” to predict what might happen next
• Use your stellar communications skills to write simply, clearly and cohesively

Salary range: $120,000 - $219,000

Golin has included the base salary range or hourly rate for this role. Actual compensation offered within the range will depend upon, among other factors: a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience; actual ranges for current or former employees in the role; and market considerations.
