What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infection Preventionist position at Good Samaritan Hospital - INDIANA?
Develops, implements and evaluates a comprehensive infection control program based on
the annual infection control risk assessment. Monitors progress of infection control projects, goals and productivity. Investigates patient, healthcare workers and visitor exposures. Communicates pertinent infection control concerns appropriately. Develops, implements and evaluates risk-reduction plans for infection prevention. Assists the infection control committee and provides hospital departments with educational and in-service programs. Integrates pertinent infection control data into the performance based credentialing process. Represents infection control on various groups. Conducts periodic review and revision of policies and procedures; provides timely notification of changes to standards, regulations and guidelines at the state and national levels.
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; bachelor’s degree in nursing or closely related field preferred. IN RN licensure required. Minimum of three (3) years hospital clinical nursing and the completion of a surveillance course. Personal computer skills including Word, Excel and Power Point are a must.
