What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of IT position at Goodway Group?
As the Director of IT, you will be responsible for all aspects of the Goodway Group IT function including end-user laptops, authentication, security, core tech stack such as email, messaging and other SaaS tools, as well as the helpdesk. You are responsible for providing the equipment, software and policies needed to make our employees productive, protect company interests/mitigate risks, and optimize costs. You will collaborate with the CTO and leadership team in order to strike the right balance between IT excellence and controlling costs. Develop a world-class team of IT professionals and partners to deliver superb service to Goodway employees with minimized costs.
While this is a fully remote role based anywhere in the United States, travel will be required based on business needs.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for IT that balances employee productivity, risk mitigation & compliance with cost control. Work with business stakeholders to gather feedback and get buy-in as necessary.
- Manage risks (security, compliance, vendor issues, business continuity) effectively, partnering with brand leaders, HR and finance among others to ensure that risks are understood, prioritized and managed in a comprehensive, cross-functional way. Conduct formal risk assessments. Manage SOC2 and other compliance and audit initiatives to ensure that we are compliant with letter and spirit of requirements on an ongoing basis.
- Execute strategic IT projects with excellence. Minimize business disruption and maximize business benefits of the projects. Deliver iteratively, taking feedback and adjusting course along the way to ensure success.
- Develop the IT staff (including hiring and firing as necessary) to maintain and develop a talented motivated and business-centric team of professionals.
- Effectively manage vendor relationships in IT - control costs, get preferential treatment and select the best partners to make Goodway IT the envy of competitors.
- Supervise the helpdesk and ensure that end users get the help they need quickly so they can deliver superb client results.
- Stay out ahead of industry trends, best practices, security and innovation in the IT space, prioritizing and infusing these into the Goodway IT function & road map as appropriate.
What You Bring
- 8 years of relevant industry experience with 3-5 of those years being in management.
- Flexible leadership style, with the ability to work with team members across different departments.
- Ability to allocate tasks to team members based on their skills and expertise.
- Identifying potential risks in projects and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.
- Ability to identify new trends, risks, security vulnerabilities in the news

- Our workdays can sometimes be long and unpredictable. You should be comfortable and capable of working at your desk for at least 8 hours.
- We gather to work and play for a week up to four times a year, and these events are required.
