Qualifications:

This position is a professional staff position and requires a person capable of conforming to the high standards of behavior expected of all staff.  Excellent work habits, including attendance and punctuality, are required.  The person must follow company policies, and safety procedures as well as ensure that customers/clients under his/her supervision follow the same.

 

Education:  Bachelor's degree

Experience: Experience in providing services to disadvantaged populations with barriers to employment.    Experience with youth or young adults is helpful.

Computer proficiency: Basic computer literacy including Microsoft, and Google Programs. 

Clearances: Must be able to obtain acceptable results for required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, and Department of Human Services- FBI Fingerprints. 

Other: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and dependable transportation.  Access to dependable transportation, which can be used in the course of his/her job. Must have an operating telephone, so that he/she may be contacted quickly by Goodwill when necessary. 

 

Supervision Received:

 The Reintegration Specialist functions under the direct supervision of the Program Manager of Reintegration Services with latitude for independent action within his/her own areas of responsibility, in accordance with agency policy

Supervision Exercised:

The Reintegration Specialist does not exercise supervision over employees.  This position educates and prepares Goodwill’s program participants to meet the requirements for successful community employment, directing them in the performance of job duties, and appropriate work habits.

 

 

Skills, Abilities, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  1. Knowledge of current best practices in the delivery of re-entry services, and acceptance of Goodwill's Philosophy Concerning People Served
  2. Knowledge of and ability to interpret human behavior, and basic knowledge of effective behavior management techniques
  3. Sound professional judgment, adequate to formulate realistic re-entry lesson plans, and counseling participants regarding work-related issues
  4. Ability to assess a participant’s educational level, abilities, and skills.
  1. Delivers job readiness and job retention instruction in a variety of basic methods to appeal to varying learning styles and abilities. Services include large-group, small-group, and one-on-one instruction.
  1. Thorough knowledge and acceptance of the principles of re-entry
  2. Ability to create and deliver interactive, hands-on lesson plans to appeal to a variety of learning styles
  3. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing using English. Ability to give public presentations
  4. Ability to relate effectively to others, including co-workers, agency participants, supervisors, and community contacts
  5. Thorough knowledge and acceptance of the principles of customer service
  6. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening hours and weekends
  7. The Reintegration Specialist must follow company policies and safety procedures, as well as ensure that customers/clients under his/her supervision do the same
  8. Vision and Hearing corrected to within normal limits
  9. Ability to perform light duty work including occasional standing for up to 8 hrs
  10. Ability to perform medium-duty work occasionally
  11. Ability to do occasional bending, stooping, stretching, pushing, and pulling
  12. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs occasionally (material handling equipment will be used to minimize effort expended when practical)
  1. Connects participant to the PA CareerLink
  2. Provides lesson plans, develop programs, and curricula incorporating workforce readiness skills into all components of the program 
  3. Promotes group and program rules and policies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
  4. Coordinates support of the work readiness curriculum by utilizing other staff and community stakeholders
  5. Provides consistent and effective communication
  6. Upon release, establish a plan of support services for participants to include intake, assessment, and goal planning
  7. Implements activities according to goal planning and track progress toward goals
  8. Ensures appropriate referral information is provided
  9. Meets face-to-face with each participant to ensure quality service delivery that facilitates obtaining employment
  10. Provides timely follow-up to all inquiries, requests, interventions    
  11.  Maintains open communication with team members to ensure wrap-around support and awareness of issues with participants.  Meets with staff to assist in implementing the work readiness curriculum.
  12.  Attends regular training to assure work readiness curriculum is current
  13. Assumes responsibility as an advocate for the participant
  14. Provides highest quality instruction at all times
  15. Teaches several work readiness group sessions per week
  16.  Researches and implements a work readiness curriculum to assist Goodwill in meeting performance measures
  17. Documents each participant’s progress
  18.  Assists each participant in the development of a career portfolio to include items such as professional resume, certifications achieved, references, etc.
  19. Assists in the design and facilitation of the group support model
  20. Maintains awareness of current trends in group support programs
  21. Maintains communication with the participant that fosters responsibility and positive self-esteem
  22. Maintains all files and file information in a confidential manner, providing information about clients on a “need to know” status
  23. Ensures compliance with project regulations, requirements, and performance outcomes and provides the required documentation to appropriate staff, agencies, and funding sources for all services and activities provided
  24. Comprehensive review of the statement of work for all funding sources as it relates to services performed
  25. Documentation of questions, concerns, suggestions
  26. Timely completion of all reporting requirements
  27. Data input into a management information system
  28. Other reports as requested
  29. Basic knowledge of child labor laws
  30. Contacts employers to assist participants in obtaining employment, utilizing job development techniques to include personal visits to companies, telephone calls, and other communication
  31. Delivers quality job search, job placement, job retention, and career development services
  32. Maintains records of all employment contacts
  33. Presents available incentives to prospective employers open to hiring individuals with a criminal background
  34. Assists the employer in identifying and making any reasonable accommodations for the workplace
  35. Adheres to policies, procedures, and safety plans set forth by the PA Department of Corrections  
  36. Willingness to work in all weather conditions. Work duties may include activities that will primarily take place outdoors.
  37. Willingness to work in various correction facilities
  38. Responsible for other duties as assigned or identified, for the benefit of Goodwill or Mission Services
  39. Some of these other duties may be considered non-essential to the position

  3. The degree to which the Reintegration Specialist establishes and maintains professional, cooperative, and courteous relationships with supervisors, staff, co-workers, funding sources, and others having contact with him/her in the course of his/her duties
  4. The degree to which the Reintegration Specialist’s general work habits and record of performing his/her duties in a prompt, thorough, and acceptable manner. 
  5. The degree to which the Reintegration Specialist represents Goodwill and its clients to the community in a positive, professional manner at all times
  6. The degree to which the Reintegration Specialist maintains compliance with Federal Wage & Hour and other regulations regarding individuals served
  7. The degree to which participants obtain and retain employment and the degree to which all of the program’s performance measurements are met
