GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This Welding Instructor coordinates the activities, assignments, scheduling, and training of clients for the Goodwill Works, Digital Skills Accelerator, and other industry-specific programs at The Academy at Goodwill licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Private and Career Education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for the Advanced Manufacturing programs including Basic Welding 1, Basic Welding 2, and Certified Production Technician (CPT) instruction of students enrolled in The Academy at Goodwill, who desire an opportunity to attain skills useful and necessary to getting a job, building a career, and retaining long-term employment. Teach courses at a variety of times and locations, including evening and weekends. Group instruction will take place both virtually and in-person. This duty is performed daily, about 50% of the time.

2. This position will instruct and train clients in a range of soft skills and career best practices, including but not limited to: Conflict Resolution, Customer Service, Decision-Making, Dependability, Ethics in the Workplace, Motivation, Organizational Skills, Self-Advocacy, Social Interactions, Stress/Anger Management, Team Building, Time Management, and Self-Determination; Career Development, Career Advancement, Community Resources, Job Retention, and Professionalism. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

3. Maintain orderly and current client files that adhere to regulations required by the Arkansas State Board of Private and Career Education. Maintain accurate documentation of program operations and services including, but not limited to, documentation required for participant files, internal support systems, compliance, and electronic records. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

4. Assist the Program Development Managers and Career Service Managers in developing classroom instruction, assessing skills attainment, and recommendations for placement of successful completers entering the workforce. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

5. Maintain and properly store/secure equipment, supplies, tools associated with duties and transport equipment, supplies, and tools to assigned duties. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

6. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four year college degree, plus 2-3 years experience in advanced manufacturing field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Arkansas Driver's License

AWS Certified Welding Educator, or the ability to attain credential within 90 days of employment.

MSSC Authorized Instructor for CPT 4.0

NCCER Authorized Instructor or Master Trainer

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

Intermediate: Microsoft Office, Google Suite

Under general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work, referring all questionable cases to supervisor.
