Vice President of Retail Operations

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Directs the following business operations: Retail Businesses, Retail Operations, Production, Transportation and Donation Operations, and Online e-commerce.  Develops and implements and evaluates all strategic, fiscal management, and policy matter in the above mentioned business operations in accordance with organizational objectives

  1. Provides management, supervision, and leadership to Retail Sales, Retail Operations, Transportation, Donation Services, and Ecommerce, in the form of clear communications of the mission, goals and objectives of the business.
  2. Coordinate and assists Programs and Services with opportunities for training and work in Retail Operations, i.e. Transitional Programs.
  3. Promote Goodwill within the community to enhance the public image and to obtain support for the achievement of our mission.  Demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards possible in relationships with internal and external associates of Goodwill.
  4. Develops and implements Business Strategic and Financial plans.
  5. Develop, analyze, and control annual budget of Retail Operations.
  6. Develop, review and revise as necessary annual departmental goals and objectives.  Evaluate and analyze progress on a regular basis.
  7. Conducts sales and productivity analysis and initiates appropriate action necessary to achieve strategic and financial goals.
  8. Insures recruitment, hiring, retention and training of management staff as is necessary to successfully conduct the business of the department.  Conducts and or coordinates adequate training for the success of the department.
  9. Establish, implement, and evaluate related operational policies, standards, and procedures
  10. Prepare short and long range plans for the retail sales area including, but not limited to, locations of additional stores, changes within existing locations, marketing surveys to establish potential sales volume, etc.
  11. Responsible for the growth and development of the Retail Operations and Ecommerce Departments.
  12. Assist Marketing team in advertising all stores, and donation program.
  13. Ensure that all employees are trained in Goodwill’s Safety Policies, Rules and regulations; trained for the jobs they will be performing; trained for the equipment they will be using; and understand the potential safety hazards in their work area.
  14. Comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory standards and procedures.
  15. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition and that all safe guards are in place. Perform visual inspections and recommend changes to facilities to ensure safety standards are met.
  16. Work with contractors to obtain bids and oversee the completion of Facilities projects.
  17. Responsible for preparing agenda and representing Retail Operations Department at Board of Director Committee Meetings.
  18. Actively participates in Senior Management Meetings and Management Team Meetings.
  19. Perform work activities in conformance to Goodwill values (respect, integrity, compassion, stewardship, learning, teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit), immediately report any wrongdoing (unethical/improper conduct, fraud, fiscal mismanagement, etc.), embrace and support cultural diversity, and encourage and support others to do all of the same.  
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications


EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

  1.  Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  2.  Minimum of Three/Five (3 to 5) years of experience in Operations/Distribution management (preferably in the retail industry).
  3.  Strong financial and budget management skills.  Experience with reporting and analysis.
  4.  Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel.
  5. Experience managing a diverse population and individuals with disabilities.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  7. Requires valid driver’s license and ability to meet the requirement for the use of company supplied transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1.  Ability to communicate in spoken conversation, adequate volume speech, and have normal hearing for conversation, telephone use and emergency information systems.
  2.  Ability to be independently mobile on all surfaces and situations, to move safely about the work area.
  3.  Visual acuity, depth perception and field of vision within normal range.
  4.  Have the physical stamina to work at least 8 hours per day and be able to travel to store locations.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1.  Demonstrated ability to use language and mathematical skills to analyze and interpret financial reports, statistics and related materials.
  2.  Well developed skill in identifying problems and making decisions based on personal experience and judgment, as well as on established   facts such as budget allocations, etc.
  3.  Demonstrated ability to deal with all kinds of people.
  4.  Demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and effectively to influence people's actions and to be sure that plans/policies, etc. can be easily understood and followed.
  5.  Demonstrated ability to perform activities/duties which may change frequently.
  6.  Well developed skill to plan and direct programs and activities of others.
  7.  Demonstrated ability to motivate, train and assist personnel to insure efficient business/operations policies and/or practices.
  8.  Well developed skill in activities involving business contacts.
