JOB SUMMARY:
- Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the Accountant is responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable in accordance with Finance Department policies and procedures, as well as the Agency’s internal controls. The accountant will also be responsible for assisting the Director of Finance and the Senior Accountant with the financial responsibilities of the Agency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for all accounts payable functions, including vendor setup, data entry, invoice and expense report review for accurate coding and approval prior to payment, weekly check runs, research and analysis, month-end accruals and year end 1099’s.
- Reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies.
- Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms.
- Interact with vendors, stores, departments, employees, etc.
- Responsible for all accounts receivable functions, including new customer set-up, record daily cash receipts, prepare monthly customer billings, month end accruals and semi-monthly distribution of Aged Receivable report.
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Provide administrative support to the Finance Department daily, including opening, sorting, and distributing mail.
- Filing and/or scanning of financial related documents.
- Assist Senior Accountant with any financial responsibilities as needed.
Education Required: Bachelor of Science Degree, with concentration in Accounting.
Experience Required: Three years accounting experience working in a similar role.
