We are seeking career Advisors to join our team! This position is located in our Lewiston Maine!
Join Goodwill NNE as a Vocational Rehabilitation Career Advisor as we work together to expand workforce services to individuals with disabilities who are accessing Vocational Rehabilitation services. As a Career Advisor, you will work one-on-one with clients to develop and support their career goals.
Your schedule can be flexible while meeting the needs of your clients. You will be expected to meet “live” and remotely with your clients to assess job competencies and barriers, working toward both short-term and long-term employment and training-related goals, and connecting your clients with opportunities that result in sustainable employment. This is rewarding work; sharing in your clients' successes is priceless.
Working Hours: This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, business hours, occasional evenings/nights may be required; travel required within a specific region of Maine corresponding to base office location. This position is based in Lewiston, Maine. This is a mobile position, meaning the work is done outside of an office. More specifically, your work starts in one geographic location and ends up in another or travels between multiple locations in a typical workday. You will receive a laptop and cell phone for this work.
Job Summary:
Works with customers/clients with disabilities to assess work-related abilities, skills, and knowledge while assisting the customer in developing and carrying out a plan, including job readiness, job-seeking skills, job placement, job coaching, etc. Build partnerships with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Establishes and maintains connections and relationships with community businesses to promote and further the Agency's services.
- Coordinates services for participants with other internal and external programs, service providers, community organizations, and training providers.
- As needed, prepare and maintain accurate customer files, personal plans, progress summaries, progress case notes, and other documentation.
- Works closely with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired to realize the customers' vocational goals.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to travel throughout entire Topsham and Lewiston area.
- Must be able to travel as required to worksites, training locations, partner agencies, and client access points
- Must be able to use all computer technology and programming, ie. Microsoft systems and databases
- Valid driver’s license permitting operation of a vehicle with a safe driving record
- A criminal background check that meets Agency standards
- Ability to engage employers “live” for job development (i.e., cold calling)
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS in business, human services, human relations, or related fields
- Experience supporting clients with barriers to employment
- Fluency in American Sign Language and multi-lingual, as well as knowledge of blind and visually impaired and hard of hearing and deaf cultures, is a strong plus.
