Summary
Assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in the operation and management of a retail outlet and donation processing center by performing the following duties personally or through supervisors and/or employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides world-class customer service to ensure that customers and donors receive prompt, courteous service. Ensures subordinate team members are engaged in and providing world-class customer service to all customers and donors.
- Supervises textile team members to ensure production quotas are met daily.
- Provides staffing needs and task assignments to Store Manager for proper scheduling of personnel.
- Trains team members and provides oversight in the appropriate sorting, tagging and hanging of all textile donations to achieve maximum sales potential in accordance with established guidelines.
- Reports known or suspected security and/or theft problems to the Store Manager, Assistant Manager, Loss Prevention and DGR leadership.
- Performs daily safety inspections and provide leadership to ensure employees are performing duties in a safe manner.
- Oversees and provides assistance if needed in the receiving and processing of donated textile items.
- Assists in the general housekeeping and appearance of the processing and receiving areas.
- Ensures individual team member production is accurately recorded using software and/or report procedures.
- Ensures textile production team has all needed supplies including but not limited to hangers, racks, gaylords full of textiles.
- Supports and coaches team members on performing duties as outlined in the Retail Training Manual and Job Description for textile workers.
- Ensures quality expectations are met on every piece of clothing before they are put on the sales floor.Quality standards are outlined in the Retail Operations Training Manual.
- Ensures production goal that is set for the retail store is met weekly.
- Actively participates in the hiring process for all textile team members.
- Provides weekly updates to Store Manager on team member performance including rate of quality, produced pieces, hours worked, needed supplies, attendance records and any coaching opportunities that could help support team members.
- Complies with all agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas; maintains same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret memos and operating and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present standard information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees of the organization using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness. Ability to add/subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10's and 100's. Ability to apply critical thinking to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to utilize appropriate problems solving skills as needed. Ability to operate a telephone, be knowledgeable in basic computer operations and material handling equipment. Ability to train and verify the work of others. Must be able to obtain and maintain Forklift/Stacker and CPR/First Aid certifications. Must have access to reliable transportation at all times.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises production team members at the direction of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include training team members, planning, assigning, directing and accurately reporting work; addressing complaints and reporting circumstances to the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of retail experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
The employee regularly is required to talk, hear, throw, turn and twist body, stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; push or pull. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception. Noise level in the work environment.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to dust and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to the extreme cold, extreme heat and wet or humid conditions.
