Primary Duties:
This position involves conducting both fieldwork and reporting for archaeological work in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The majority of the work involves survey level investigation, shovel testing, site recording, monitoring, report writing, ArcGIS mapping, and desktop archival reviews. The individual should be comfortable performing pedestrian survey under adverse climate conditions. The individual should also be comfortable with MS Word and have had at least an introductory experience with ArcGIS or be willing to learn ArcGIS. Given the broad scope of our work area, overnight travel is expected. Up to 50% travel may be required, dependent on work volume and staffing; however, Goshawk tries to avoid working employees on or over weekends unless necessary (rarely). Our office is located in Dripping Springs, Texas. This position would be involved in all aspects of our work to the greatest extent possible and will have ample opportunity for growth and expansion of their skillset.
Requirements:
· B.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology or a closely related field
· Class C Drivers license with good driving record
· Physically capable of conducting pedestrian survey and shovel testing in adverse climate conditions
· Introductory ArcGIS experience or willingness to quickly learn it- proficiency preferred
· Willingness to travel on a regular basis
