Building Trades Instructor

  

Summary: We are looking for a qualified and experienced individual with at least 4,000 hours of experience in construction, specifically in building homes, or a degree in Construction Management or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction trades and the ability to teach and mentor students in various aspects of the building trades industry. This individual should be passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise with students, preparing them for careers in the construction field. This candidate will work with an experienced building trades teacher for at least one year, possibly more until the current teacher retires.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cover a range of building trades topics, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems.
  • Provide hands-on instruction and demonstration in the classroom and workshop settings.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop a comprehensive building trades curriculum.
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines and regulations are followed in the classroom and workshop.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in building trades technology.
  • Provide guidance and support to students interested in pursuing careers in the building trades industry.

Qualifications:

  • At least one of the following: 4,000 hours of experience in construction, a degree in Construction Management or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the building trades industry.
  • Teaching experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of building trades principles and techniques.
  • Ability to work well with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Certification in a specific building trade (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical work) is a plus.

 

WORK CALENDAR:  School year - 184 days per year; 40 hours per week

 

SALARY:  Teaching Contract – 184 days
