Government Scientific Source, a leading distributor of lab equipment to the Federal Government is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication, ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and interact effectively with customers, vendors, and team members.
SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining assigned vendor accounts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Identify items as invoices, expense reports, check requests, etc.
- Handle all vendor correspondences via phone or email.
- Enter invoices into Microsoft Dynamics to match corresponding PO, items, quantity and price.
- Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders.
- Reconcile various accounts by identifying errors in posting or omissions by applying appropriate accounting standards.
- Process remittance information from checks, drafts, and wire transfers for invoices provided by vendors.
- Review instructions accompanying items to determine proper disposition and crediting accounts in accordance with standard procedures.
- Receive, research and resolve a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.
- File, maintain, and distribute accounting documents, records and reports.
- Perform other duties as required to support Accounting Department.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Required Education and Experience:
- 4 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
- Microsoft Dynamics experience.
- 10–Key touch
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Detailed-oriented with emphasis on time management.
- Open to change and learning new skills.
- Ability to multi-task
