Position Summary
Governors State University Digital Learning and Media Design department is seeking to hire a Creative Video Producer. The main purpose of this position is to produce, direct, and edit creative video content for delivery to multiple platforms for various initiatives. The position also contributes to the development of new projects and functions in a variety of capacities as a member of multiple production project teams. The special focus of this position is for the needs of university marketing and commercial work creating content from concept to completion for use on a variety of digital, social, broadcast, and print platforms.
Essential Responsibilities:
35% - Provides television and media production services including conception of ideas, project development, scripting, producing, directing, lighting, editing to tell concise, visually compelling stories. Productions may include university events, interviews, and general campus footage recording. Position may require set design and construction, and multimedia production for both studio and field production.
15% - Assist with the Chicago Southland Film Festival in the areas of, planning, programming, and operations for year-round events while promoting cross-campus engagement and
community outreach.
15% – Work with the Director, Television Production Coordinator, Chief Broadcasting Engineer, Graphic Designer, and other production staff to coordinate use of facilities and fabrication of materials for new or modified projects for both internal and external units that may include revenue-generating clients. Helps ensure that all projects are consistent with university branding in partnership with Marketing and Communications.
10% – Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and equipment management /maintenance.
10% - Assist in the continued training and oversight of student workers employed in the department to ensure that best practices are being enforced and students leave with proper training to secure production work.
5% – Assist in creation and maintenance of accurate and up-to-date documentation of all productions. Utilize facility and system documentation to facilitate/support activities.
5% – Assists in the visualization and creation of motion graphics for distribution on social media and other distribution mediums.
5% - Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED: COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS, WHICH INCLUDES THE EARNED DEGREE AND CONFERRED DATE MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION OF THIS POSITION (See “Special instructions to applicants” section below).
1. Bachelor’s degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or media studies.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, graphics design, audio recording, or video production.
NOTE: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
