The Role
Nextgov, an award-winning digital publication of GovExec, leads the way in reporting on how emerging technologies are transforming how federal agencies serve citizens and perform vital functions. Nextgov is seeking a Technology Reporter to provide coverage of emerging technologies—such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, space, biometrics, and 5G—in the federal space. In this role, you will develop a deep understanding of federal government operations and technologies that shape our lives.
Responsibilities
- Write breaking news stories and enterprise features.
- Develop key sources and leverage them to produce original reporting.
- Attend virtual and in-person events.
- Moderate panel discussions and one-on-one interviews when necessary.
- Contribute to ebooks, special reports, podcasts, and other editorial projects.
Qualifications
- 0-3 years of full-time, internship, and/or extracurricular journalism experience as a reporter and/or editor.
- An interest in technology or federal government policy.
- Strong writing and analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly digest complicated information and produce stories on a daily deadline.
