What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Drafter position at GP Reeves Inc.?
The role of the CAD Drafter is to assist in the design and detailing of both standard products and customer projects. The duties include but are not limited to detailing and releasing machined prints; creating and updating assemblies and schematics; designing and running product tests; design and build fixtures to aid in assembly.
Responsibilities:
- Detail machine prints, assembly drawings and sales drawings.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform tolerance stack-ups (including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and basic drawing and design checking
- Create and clean up assembly models.
- Assist project engineers with tool design.
- Overtime may be necessary based on customer orders including weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Participate in all company functions and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Design and Drafting
- 2 years (5 preferred) experience in Design or Drafting
- Proficient in 3D CAD design software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Skilled in using associated PC software including Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong problem solving and technical skills.
- Solid electromechanical system testing ability is required.
- Experienced in Automation and Machine Design
- Knowledge of Jigs, fixtures, & tooling experience is a plus.

Operations Physical Requirements
- Able to stand and work for extended periods of time.
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
- Able to move around in a factory environment sometimes in tight spaces in and around equipment.
- Able to lift and move up to 30 pounds periodically.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position may act as a trainer and mentor for others in the company to grow functional knowledge.
