Starting pay is $26-35 per hour and it is located just outside of Knoxville, TN
This position is responsible for operating the ammonia refrigeration system at a food processing facility, including start-up, shut down, and manipulation of machine setpoints.
Position will perform preventive maintenance and assist with troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical repair, operation, and other various tasks related to the ammonia refrigeration system to meet production, shipping, storage, and refrigeration needs.
An ammonia refrigeration operator must possess thorough operational knowledge and understanding of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
What You'll Do :
- Maintain good written records on daily log sheets. Conduct daily inspections on refrigeration equipment. Walk system piping daily.
- Monitor and maintain oil levels on ammonia compressors. Drain oil-pots on vessels regularly.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on ammonia refrigeration equipment, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, motors, auto-purgers, valve groups, fuses, electrical disconnects, etc.
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting and repairing ammonia refrigeration systems, including valve groups, pumps, motors, fans, compressors, solenoids, electrical disconnects, fuses, auto-purgers, etc.
- Assist with ammonia pump-outs in a safe manner.
- Assist with response to and remediation of Anhydrous Ammonia releases.
- Maintain water quality systems on cooling towers.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Use of forklift, scissor lift, and JLG lift required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements and Experience :
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2-3 years of maintenance experience with 1-2 years of experience in Industrial Refrigeration.
- Has completed or able to complete RETA Operator 1 course (Possession of CARO Certification will substitute).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required.
- Manufacturing experience in a Food Manufacturing Facility desired.
- Experience with fire-tube boilers and industrial air compressors desired.
