ARE YOU A MAINTENANCE MANAGER?
Reporting to the Vice President of Plant Engineering, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing a staff of maintenance mechanics to support the maintenance of the company’s manufacturing equipment.
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day preventative maintenance as well as the repair of broken or damaged equipment, covering mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical functions.
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for directly managing the Maintenance Department that consists of four Maintenance Shift Supervisors and 30-40 hourly employees working across three shifts. The shift supervisors’ direct reports consist of fork truck mechanics, electricians, combustion mechanics, hydraulic mechanics, general mechanics, and helpers.
Maintenance Manager Responsibilities:
- Work in a team environment to meet target dates.
- Coordinate the preventive maintenance, equipment repair for the forging facility that generates $200 million in annual sales.
- Is directly responsible for the following equipment:
- Large Hydraulic presses (1200-33,000 tons)
- Small hydraulic presses (10-100 tons)
- Fork truck and manipulators (5000 -25,000# capacity)
- Overhead cranes (1-50 ton capacity)
- Large vertical and horizontal saws
- Large water saws
- Gas and electric powered furnaces (stock, die, and heat treat furnaces)
- Air compressors
- Press cooling systems (water towers)
- Large etch line and the accompanied hazard waste/neutralization requirements
- Large manual and semi-automatic titanium grinders
- Large electric substation maintenance (4-5 MW power requirements)
- Manage annual budgets per plan.
- Manage performance of the Maintenance department, which includes establishing and meeting safety goals, downtime reduction/equipment uptime goals, and labor/overtime goals.
- Collaborate with the Hand Forge and Die Forge Operations Managers as well as interface with the Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Engineering Manager to execute PM schedules, plant/equipment improvements and repairs performed by in-house and external sources.
Maintenance Manager Qualifications:
- Must be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of the forging industry maintenance procedures and practices in the areas of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Demonstrated ability to develop employees in a high-performance environment
- Excellent communication, leadership, and management skills. Must be able to lead and work well in a team environment.
- Demonstrated strategic and operational thinking skills.
- Proven track record of operating safe facilities.
- Computer Skills (Word, outlook, excel, power point, project manager).
- Proficient knowledge of PLC systems.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Office
Maintenance Manager Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related technical field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment (preferably in a forging plant) with 2-5 years of supervisory experience.
