What are the responsibilities and job description for the National Director of Sales position at Gpac?
One of my best clients in food production is confidentially seeking a National Director of Sales Located in Columbus, OHthey are a private family-owned company that has been in successful business for more than 40 years, they have top-notch manufacturing facilities, and they are committed to providing the highest quality products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep informed of new developments in the economy or marketplace that are relevant to the success of the company.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of key industry initiatives and trends on an on-going basis.
- Ensure team member growth through development, mentorship, and training.
- Develop opportunities to increase the company’s business by leveraging category expertise.
- Develop relationships with key suppliers/manufacturers to jointly develop new business opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with current and past customers to look for new business opportunities.
- Possess and exhibit excellent knowledge of all categories within the sales department.
- Possess and demonstrate superior technological skills (Microsoft Products, project management software, CRM, etc.).
- Possess and demonstrate excellent analytical skills (including Category Management) to be utilized to improve business results.
Qualifications/Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in business or a technical field is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years direct experience selling in the food/beverage industry.
- Experience bringing products to market in a retail environment is desired.
- Experience selling to customers in the food service and/or industrial segment (meaning ingredients to be used in further processing).
- Thorough knowledge of sales management and leadership.
- Experience managing budgets and increasing efficiencies.
- Experience developing and implementing sales strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Prior experience must demonstrate sales skills along with the ability to successfully manage and direct others.
- Must be proficient in a variety of software packages used to support the sales function.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, negotiation, and sales skills.
- Must have the ability to analyze sales and marketing information needed to make effective sales presentations.
- Ability to travel 30%.
