Job Summary
We are looking for an energetic Operations Manager to take over responsibility for our growing manufacturing operations. The successful candidate is able to implement and maintain a robust, flexible planning and lean production process, continuously improving productivity and quality. While delegating authority to key supervisors in purchasing, production, logistics and quality, she or he will direct and coordinate operations at the manufacturing plant.
Responsibilities and duties
- Oversee all daily operations of the plant from planning and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed
- Increase production output, efficiency and flexibility while improving quality
- Ensure production schedule is followed and is in line with shipment plan
- Optimize inventory levels without compromising on-time deliveries
- Make sure partnerships are established with key suppliers, guaranteeing availability and good quality of raw material and purchased components
- Use KPI’s to track performance against agreed targets
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Develop staff in lean production techniques (VSM, SMED, Standard Work, TPM) and use lean tools to exceed the efficiency and flexibility targets.
- Define plant strategy in alignment with corporate strategy to provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- Monitor manufacturing operations and trigger corrective actions
- Recruit, manage and develop plant staff and maintain a trusting relationship with the staff
- Commit to plant safety procedures
- Stay up to date with latest production best practices and concepts
- On time reporting
Qualifications and skills
- BS in Operations Management/Engineering and a Six Sigma Green Belt
- Pragmatic, dynamic, hands on and down to earth
- Proven track record as an operations manager with experience using an ERP system
- Experience in a metal processing and assembly plant Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Very good problem-solving skills
- Knowledgeable about safety, lean manufacturing, quality, productivity, demand creation and inventory
- Excellent computer literacy
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
