Steel Procurement Specialist Needed

Heavy steel fabrication company is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Steel Procurement Specialist to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement processes, particularly in sourcing steel materials for heavy fabrication projects.

This role will be responsible for managing the procurement of steel materials, ensuring timely delivery, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors.

Steel Procurement Specialist Responsibilities :

  • Source and procure steel materials required for heavy fabrication projects, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and develop procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Manage supplier relationships, monitor supplier performance, and address any issues or concerns to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure adequate inventory levels and optimize procurement processes to minimize lead times.
  • Stay updated on market trends, industry developments, and material pricing fluctuations to inform procurement decisions.
  • Utilize procurement software and tools to track orders, manage supplier information, and generate reports for analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout the procurement process.

Steel Procurement Specialist Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement within the steel industry or heavy fabrication sector.
  • Strong knowledge of steel materials, grades, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to drive cost savings and optimize supplier relationships.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards governing procurement processes is desirable.
