JOB DESCRIPTION
This company is looking for an experienced PROJECT MANAGER who is able to take measurements in the field/on site and create a project plan. They specialize in commercial, light industrial or public works projects, while being small enough to offer flexibility to meet the needs of smaller jobs or repairs. They have fabricated and installed projects ranging from a few columns and beams to 3 story steel framed buildings. They also supply ornamental gates, rails and fencing.
SKILLS and REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 5 years of structural steel fabrication and construction experience
- Familiar with the AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges, in interpreting and dealing with project plans and specifications
- Must be able to read and interpret design drawings and specifications, as well as fabrication and steel erection drawings
- Knowledge of requirements for on-site material and personnel lifting equipment
- Familiar with steel fabrication as well as the ASTM material specifications and AWS D1.1 and D1.3 welding codes
- Knowledge of all phases of the building construction process including pre-construction through closeout
- Excellent time management skills
- Extensive experience in cost controls
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review design, fabrication, and erection drawings to monitor compliance
- Advocate for the customer regarding all scheduling requirements for detailing, fabrication, and erection plus communication of those requirements internally
- Negotiating and communicating schedules with the customer
- Scheduling and supervision of field personnel
- Representing the Company at project meetings
- Manage project schedules
- Monitor on-site safety requirements
- Preparing and coordinating RFI's and other communication paperwork for projects
- Identifying opportunities for change orders, following up on change proposals and coordinating them with the customer
- Documenting all changes in scope of schedule not captured in plan revisions
- Review submittal drawings before submittal for adherence to Company fabrication procedures and constructability
- Prepare RFI's and follow up with customer to obtain reply
- Keep abreast of customer schedule and release material for purchase or fabrication accordingly
- Meet with customer on project progress
- Field measure as required
