We are currently partnered with an electrical contractor seeking to add an Electrical Superintendent to their team. The Superintendent Electrician will manage the labor, materials, and production of one or more projects. This job description does not limit management's ability to assign additional tasks.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Electrical Superintendent
- Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure specifications are met.
- Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements and plan procedures.
- Estimate and order materials and evaluate worker requirements to complete jobs.
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of workers.
- Confer with managerial and technical personnel, other departments, and contractors to resolve problems and coordinate activities.
- Record information such as personnel, production, and operational data on specified forms and reports.
- Assign work to employees based on material and worker requirements for specific jobs.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose and inspect systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools.
- Advise management on whether the continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Maintain a current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
- Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Work scheduled hours, including overtime and weekends. Respond to and work when requested by management.
- Arrive on time and leave at the end of the shift.
- Follow safety rules and notify supervision or others when a safety hazard is observed.
Required Knowledge:
- Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in electrical work.
- Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications to solve problems.
- Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing good customer service.
- Evaluating Compliance: Using relevant information and judgment to determine if processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Problem-Solving: Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution.
