The Tower Foreman is responsible for supervising a crew and performing construction duties on telecommunications sites on a daily basis. The Foreman must be able to communicate well with others, follow instructions and complete assigned job assignments in a safe and timely manner.
JOB DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Lead and manage a crew of 2-4 members
- Must be able to fully understand the scope of work of a job/project
- Must be able to read, interpret and build a job site according to the site plans and layouts
- Take full responsibility of tower tech crews safety and makes sure that all crew members are in compliance with customer and company safety requirements
- Inspect and coordinates with crew that all rigging gear and tools are safe to use
- Perform inspection of job site upon completion
- Proficient with the completion of carrier and tower owner closeouts
- Manage and maintain all necessary job site safety documents as required for each job site
- Manage all job site requirements from start to completion of job
- Work with Project Managers to manage and ensure that all details of the job requirements are met
- Capable of assessing issues and troubleshooting any problems at job sites
- Must be highly organized and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff members and customers
- Knowledge of hazards regarding: tower climbing, construction equipment and working on/near energized lines and equipment
- Manage daily toolbox safety meetings as needed along with other various daily tasks
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to:
- Train and supervise crewmembers with: tower climbing and rigging telecommunications towers
- Install and modify sector mounts, T-Booms, platforms and banding of monopoles
- Install, test and repair antennas, TMA's, diplexers, and duplexers
- Install and test of all grounding of tower components to include ground rings for tower, shelter, equipment pads and compound
- Install and test coax, DC, fiber trunks and
- Install Ice Bridges
- Sweep test lines and equipment, operate sweep test software and read the results
- Operate PIM test equipment, PIM test lines and equipment, and read the results
- Use GPS alignment tools
- Install, test and troubleshoot RRU/BBU equipment on cell tower
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License and clean record
- Minimum 4 yrs of related telecommunications tower experience
- Ability to climb a maximum of 350 feet
- Excellent communication skills (reading/writing)
- Must be able to travel out of town, if required
- Knowledge of basic hand tools and mechanical equipment
- Experience with installing DC power, fiber to RRU's, plumbing RF jumpers to antennas, building mounts, building and installing new or replacement mounts
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull 75 Ibs
- Training: OSHA30, RF Awareness, First Aid/CPR, Rigging and Tower Rescue
