About the Job:
GPI is seeking a full-time Director of Structural Engineering for our New England branch. Wilmington, MA; Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Salem, NH; and Bedford, NH are all possible office locations. GPI offers flexible work schedules with the ability to split time between working in the office and from home. This position oversees all structural design projects and staff in New England. We are currently designing multiple-span bridges, large-span bridges, and signature structures. We have new design, rehabilitation, preservation, and repair projects, including structural design and detailing of bridges, walls, and dams. With a strong backlog and a long history of positive client relationships, the opportunity for growth is significant.
Responsibilities:
- Lead our New England structural engineering department with projects primarily in Massachusetts and supplemented with work in New Hampshire, Maine, and other New England states
- Nurture strong client relationships through open and regular communication
- Provide long-term vision, goals, and strategy for the department
- Provide financial oversight of the department’s business operations
- Provide mentoring, oversight, and guidance for GPI’s New England structural team leaders
- Ensure the execution of quality control and quality assurance plans for the department
- Work with our marketing department to oversee business development and proposals for new structural engineering work
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s Degree a plus)
- 12 years of relevant experience in structural design and project management
- Licensed professional engineer in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain the license within six months of hire
- Ability to obtain a professional engineer license in all New England states within six months of hire
- Strong background in bridge design in Massachusetts, specifically with MassDOT
- Strong technical background with expertise in superstructure and substructure design, cost estimation, and specification preparation
- Prior successful experience in project management, effective communication, and mentoring
- Working knowledge of applicable bridge design codes
- A history of positive client relationships in Massachusetts
- Proven skills in communication, organization, and planning for long-term success
