What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Ministries position at Grace Church?
This leadership position provides primary support to the Senior Pastor and is responsible for oversight and management of all Service, Outreach & Interest Ministries and Education & Training within the organization. Provides direct supervisory oversight of ministry leaders and departments heads. The DOM must possess a commitment to the vision and mission of Grace Church and apply insightful, innovative, and cutting-edge proactive processes that align with the vision and core values of Grace Church. The DOM must be a leader who is able to help inspire others, develop, implement, and execute programs that are effective and make the CEO’s vision a reality. Importantly, the DOM must possess the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings to this mission.
The DOM leads various leadership meetings and ensures effective and efficient use of resources. The DOM at the minimum must meet the Elder qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. The DOM may be assigned specific tasks to perform or areas of ministry to administrate, like religious education, or on-going age group ministry of a church like Youth or Recreation. In absence of the Senior Pastor, may receive ministerial phone calls, lead staff meetings, oversee and lead worship services, and other ministerial duties.
Primary Responsibilities - As a senior executive in the organization he/she reports directly to the CEO and COS. The primary objective is to free the CEO of the daily Ministerial Program operational function to allow the CEO to pursue organizational opportunities that will contribute to the overall success of the organization. Other duties include but are not limited to oversight of ministry counseling needs from the church membership and requests from the community.

· Provide strategic advice and support to the CEO and executive management team to improve the daily management and operations within the organization
· Oversee, direct, and organize the work relating to the various ministries and auxiliaries within the organization of Grace Church
· Develop innovations to enhance, and maintain all church membership assimilation management systems
· Prays with church members and guests who express difficulties in their life
· Develop and exercise personal evangelism within and outside the church
· Develop team leaders to facilitate the youth, serving and outreach, media, and special interest group ministries
· Maintain continuous lines of communication with the CEO, staff, and serve team members to keep everyone informed of all critical issues
· Relate effectively to a diverse constituency and manages relationships within the core values of Grace Church
· Identify, develop, and mentor staff and serve team members using a supportive and collaborative approach and monitor and evaluate results
· Cooperates with all staff to promote the entire ministry plan of the church
· Serves as the liaison to church committees and team ministry events and activities
· Oversees the Benevolent Ministry of the church
· Teaches regular Bible study classes
· Represents the Senior Pastor as required
· Ensure all ministry programs and budgets align with the vision and key performance indicators
· Gives graciously to the church through tithes and offerings
· Synchronize the calendar of ministry events
· Make sure all leaders have an adequate support team and second seat leader
· Ensure all serve team positions are filled create any necessary structures
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO

The position of Director of Ministries is highly sensitive. Therefore, employers are advised not to overlook academic qualifications, experience, and the recommended skill sets. Physical Demands - This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Tuesday through Friday and Sunday during worship. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel - This position minimal travel.
Minimal Required Education and Experience - A bachelor's degree and have at least 15 years of experience within middle to upper management of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates continual education in organizational and ministerial leadership.
Preferred Education and Experience – MBA or equivalent
