What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychologist position at Grace Health?
Outstanding opportunity for qualified Psychologist interested in behavioral medicine and general practice, in both a clinical and academic setting. The position is a joint appointment with the Battle Creek Family Medicine Residency Program of the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine and Grace Health of Battle Creek, a community-based Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving as a safety net.
Grace Health of Battle Creek offers full spectrum mental health services integrated into an ambulatory medical clinic, including substance abuse assessment and referrals. The mental health department includes a Counseling Psychologist Director and a number of masters level therapists.
DUTIES: (This list may not be all inclusive)
- Assessment of an outpatient population with behavioral health concerns and shared management with the medical team
- Managing emergent situations and prescheduled patient caseloads
- Supervising family medicine residents who are providing brief counseling services to patients in their general medical practice
- Didactic teaching
- Further development of the behavioral medicine curriculum; and scholarly activity. Residents see patients at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, a medium size general hospital thus consultation by psychology staff is provided.
For those in need of supervision hours for licensing, supervision will be provided free of charge. For those interested, but who do not have experience teaching in medical residency, mentoring is available. For those without hospital experience, mentoring leading to hospital privileges is available. Upon meeting eligibility requirements, this role is eligible for Federal Student Loan Repayment assistance.
