Job Title: Certified Teacher (Secondary English; certification required)
Reports to: Education & Outreach Director
Starting Pay: Based on education and experience - $18-20/hour

Position Summary:
Grace House Ministries is currently accepting applications for the position of a middle/high school level teacher for our Campus School Program. This applicant will be responsible for teaching English
Language Arts classes across grades 6-12, with no more than 8-10 students in a class. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and focused teacher who is committed to safeguarding and promoting the education and well-being of children at all times. Under the direction of the Education & Outreach
Director, the teacher must plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students in a variety of middle and high school grade levels. This is an hourly, year-round position (start date July 10,
2023), part time; schedule is 7:30a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 11:30a.m. – 4:30 p.m. each day. Applicants must have or must be seeking an Alabama teaching certification at the time of hire.

Primary Responsibilities:
Classroom & Administrative

● Creates and manages a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to students’ learning

● Identifies clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes, with appropriate grade-level expectations for all lessons, and communicates those objectives to students

● Prepares objectives and outlines for course of study, following curriculum guidelines and requirements of states and schools

● Plans, prepares, and turns in monthly lesson plans to the Education & Outreach Director
● Prepares materials and classroom for class activities each day
● Delivers well-structured lessons to include, but not limited to, lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities which incorporate special education strategies
● Plans and supervises field trips, class projects, guest speakers, or other specialized activities connected with the teaching of subjects and guide students in learning from those activities
● Establishes and enforces appropriate discipline among the students, safeguarding their health and safety
● Creates and puts into practice an effective classroom management plan
● Develops and implements strategies to meet the needs of students ensuring differentiation of individual learning needs, reflecting all abilities
● Modifies the general education curriculum for special-needs students, based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies
● Confers with the Education & Outreach Director, Residential Program staff, social workers, testing specialists, and other professionals to develop Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social development

● Prepares, administers, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate students’ progress
● Maintains an accurate and complete system of monitoring, assessment, record-keeping, and reporting of students’ progress and grades

● Evaluates students’ performance, conduct, and social development and prepares and submits student progress reports and report cards each quarter

● Actively participates in the development of policies, programs of study, curriculum, teaching materials, resources, and methods of teaching to ensure that state academic policies are reflected in daily practice

● Manages resources effectively and ensures appropriate use of materials and supplies
● Communicates and consults with the Education & Outreach Director on all aspects of the students’ education – academic, social, spiritual, and emotional; collaborates with the Education
& Outreach Director and the Residential Program staff in the development of disciplinary procedures and behavior modification techniques; administers according to policy

● Immediately reports to the Education & Outreach Director all injuries, accidents, and incidents that affect the physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual well-being of the children and submits incident reports within 24 hours

● Attends staff meetings, education team meetings, and ISPs (as requested)
● Attends professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence
● Ensures that all health and safety policies are implemented and adhered to at all times
● Participates in Grace House Ministries staff orientation and DHR Minimum Standards trainings
● Helps each child develop a strong Christian character and a positive self-image

Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Education with a concentration in English Language Arts related field required
● Current certification in CPR and basic first aid
● Strong organization and communication skills
● Security clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, and the Child Abuse and Neglect registry
● Proof of Alabama driver’s license and car insurance (required)
● Ability to drive a 14 passenger van
● A solid Christian faith and a teachable spirit
● Ability to be an example/role model to the girls
● Ability to be a team-player and support the mission of Grace House
● Ability to demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of job performance; very hospitable

● Experience with differentiated instruction and appreciation of each child as an individual with diverse needs
