What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver and Maintenance Assistant position at Grace Management Career Center?

 

This is a full time, dual role position. Drive residents to doctor appointments/errands as needed in 12 passenger bus (CDL not required) and assist maintenance team with work orders as needed when transportation is not needed. Full time 8am-4pm Monday through Friday. Background check/drug test required prior to starting. Option to change into only driving or only maintenance at 90 days, inquire within for details.

Summary of Duties for the Driver
The Driver is responsible for maintaining the van and chauffeuring the residents to various activities and events in safe manner.  The Driver may be responsible for establishing and monitoring weekly/daily transportation schedule as requested by supervisor.  The Driver assists the Maintenance and/or Housekeeping Department with light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, sweeping, mopping, cleaning, and emptying trash. 

Summary of Duties of the Maintenance Technician
Community buildings and grounds are the physical representation of our commitment to the health and happiness of our residents.  It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Technician to ensure the safety and upkeep of the building, equipment, and the grounds.  Additional responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician include the general maintenance operations for exterior and interior of the facility which includes electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating and cooling, structural, grounds care, and parking area.  The Maintenance Technician renders quality maintenance services which meet resident needs and services and enhance safety.  The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Director.

Essential Functions of the Maintenance Technician

  • Ensures maintenance/repair service level is maintained to include electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, heating and cooling, structural facilities and grounds, and parking areas.
  • Ensures timely response to requests for services by residents, associates, and management to include repair or replacement of all interior fixtures and furnishings.
  • Monitors the level and quality of services performed by outside contractors in accordance to all lease agreements, service contracts, and warranties.
  • Maintains accurate records to include serial numbers of all equipment.
  • Ensures implementations of ongoing preventive maintenance and energy conservation programs.
  • Maintains emergency procedures and equipment and assists with the implementation of all emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and associates.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment free of hazards.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of tools and supplies for maximum associate productivity.
  • Cleans light fixtures and replaces designated light bulbs.
  • Cleans the outside of resident apartment doors.
  • Operates, maintains, and cleans housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner, buffer, shampoo machine, and mop unit.
  • Performs heavy cleaning and moving of furniture and fixtures in apartments and throughout the community.
  • Manages/performs apartment turn-over duties in assigned resident apartments.
  • Complies with community policies and procedures.
  • Team player who is collaborative and provides assistance to other associates to contribute to the smooth operation of the department and community.
  • Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical/cleaning solutions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper infection control technique including cleaning, storage, and food handling.
  • May be required to come to the community during “off hours” to address building emergencies to ensure the safety of the residents, associates, and the community.

Essential Functions of the Driver

  • Chauffeur the residents in the company vehicle as scheduled.
  • Ensure resident safety when entering and exiting the vehicle.
  • Ensure safety rules are followed when vehicle is in motion.
  • Understand the mechanical lift requirements and limitations and follow procedures accordingly.
  • Report any safety concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • Report any resident health or safety concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • Pick up and delivery errands as requested by supervisor.
  • Keep the company vehicle clean and in proper running order.
  • Report to the supervisor when not driving the company vehicle for additional duties.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Supports and participates in the resident centered activity programs.
  • Participates in projects or committees as assigned.
  • Attends all associate meetings including in-service education and associate functions as requested by supervisor.
  • Assists in variety of tasks involving residents as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED at a minimum.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Completion of drug testing and criminal record background check upon hire and upon request of supervisor.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license sufficient to drive the company vehicle.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Physical requirements include:  bending, standing, lifting, stooping, sitting, carrying, stretching, and walking; Must have manual dexterity to operate a vehicle safely.
  • Must have the interpersonal skills to work with various levels of people, associates, and residents.
  • Be free of communicable disease.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Ability to follow directions.
