Grace Day Care (Grace) is a non-profit community service located within Grace United Methodist Church. It is part of the church’s ministry with children. Grace is licensed by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration and meets State and County requirements and regulations for health, safety, nutrition, and program. Grace is a NAEYC accredited, Level 4 Paths to Quality provider.
Our mission is to believe a child’s love for learning begins with positive early learning experiences. Our objective is to provide safe, loving care that will enable young children to feel secure and comfortable while away from parents and home. It is also to provide developmentally appropriate activities within a Christian environment. The program at Grace includes quiet as well as active times to ensure positive mental, physical, and emotional, social, and spiritual growth and development.
Grace serves children aged infant-5-year-olds. It is a licensed for 124 children. There are 8 classrooms, 20 staff members and we serve about 95 families and 100 children.
Duties:
Those reporting to Director: Director of Grace Readiness Preschool, Teacher assistants, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Cook, Day Care Teachers /Teacher assistants
Status and hours: Full time, salaried, 40 hours per week
Position Description: Oversees all administrative aspects of Grace Day Education ministries as well as day to day operations of Grace Day Care.
Primary objective: To invest in staff and programming to prepare children for the next stage in their education in an environment where the primary message is that they matter to God and have a place in his world.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
· Plan and implement Day Care curriculum
· Plan Grace Readiness curriculum in consultation with the Director
· Maintain the overall excellence and care of both Grace Day Care and Readiness ministries
· Supervise the financial health of both Grace Day Care and Readiness ministries
· Be the primary liaison with church administration
· Oversee all outgoing materials
· Works with Readiness Director, Financial Secretary and Treasurer to develop budgets and recommended fee schedules to be approved by DSAB
· Works with Readiness Director on recruitment and marketing
· Maintain all records and procedures related to licensing and Paths to Quality
Specific Responsibilities:
· Support Readiness Director in the daily functions of the Readiness Program as needed.
· Responsible for enrollment, center tours, attaining registrations, distribution of Key fobs and maintaining files for all students enrolled in Day Care & Readiness.
· Responsible for the growth, change and development of Early Childhood Education regarding the curriculum of both programs.
· Assist in planning curriculum updates and changes with Readiness Director.
· Order supplies in conjunction with Readiness Director
· Assist Readiness Director for all extracurricular activities such as but not limited to parent conferences, parent open house, Graduation, parent programs, field trips and special events as well as DSAB Sunday,
· Distribute/order all scholastic books for both programs
· Work with Readiness director for all fundraisers, church events
· Create class lists, sign in/out sheets for all classes
· Responsible for all financials of both programs
Administrator of Grace Education Ministries
· Required Knowledge, skills and abilities:
· Acceptance of and support for faith in Christ as expressed through Grace Church
· Familiarity with state and national educational and daycare standards
· Skill in developing, encouraging and evaluating staff
· Ability to plan and implement curriculum
· Ability to develop budgets, maintain records and other administrative duties
· Comfortable hiring and terminating staff
· Ability to work well with children and parents
· Classroom management skills

Education and experience
B.S. in early childhood or elementary education or equivalent
3-5 years experience leading a classroom
2-3 years experience overseeing a preschool or day care program
Training in Indiana state licensing standards and procedures
Familiarity with Playground Daycare App a plus, Tuition Express and CCDF
Work environment:
Office and classroom in a church environment

Professional/ Education Requirements:
470 IAC 3-4.7-21 Director qualifications Authority: IC 12-13-5-3 Affected: IC 12-17.2-4 Sec. 21. (a) The director shall be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age. (b) Each child care center must employ a qualified person to carry out the responsibilities of the director. (c) The director shall meet one (1) of the following minimum education and experience qualifications: (1) A bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education or elementary education with a kindergarten endorsement and grades of C or better. (2) Any bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree from an accredited college or university must include one (1) of the following: (A) Fifteen (15) credit hours in college level courses with documented content relating to the needs, skills, development, or teaching methods of children six (6) years of age or younger and grades of C or better. (B) A CDA. (3) A two (2) year associate’s degree in early childhood education from an accredited college or university, with a grade of C or better and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in an early childhood program. (d) All directors who were employed as a director prior to December 1, 1985, are exempt from the specific educational requirements for this position provided that his or her position continues as a director at that child care center. (a) The director shall work on site during the child care center’s scheduled hours of operation a minimum of thirty (30) hours per week or fifty percent (50%) of the total weekly hours of operation, whichever is less. Required training or education away from the child care center may be counted time for this requirement. (b) The director shall not permit other employment or activities, including teaching responsibilities, to interfere with the operation of the child care center. (c) The director responsibilities shall include the following: (1) The general planning and supervision of the developmentally appropriate program. (2) Orientation of newly employed child caregivers. (3) Supervision and evaluation of child caregivers. (4) Ensuring that caregivers receive ongoing training. (d) The director shall designate a responsible caregiver, at least twenty-one (21) years of age, to be in charge during any absences of the director and include the following: (1) The director shall post his or her name and the name of the director-designee in a conspicuous place. Indiana Administrative Code Page 48 CHILD WELFARE SERVICES (2) The director-designee shall have the following qualifications: (A) Knowledge of this rule to carry on normal operation of the child care center. (B) A working understanding of office routine. (C) Access to child and personnel files. (D) The ability to communicate with the staff from the various state regulatory agencies. IAC 3-4.7-23 Administrator responsibilities Authority: IC 12-13-5-3 Affected: IC 12-17.2-4 Sec. 23. (a) An administrator that is not the director may carry out the day-to-day operating responsibilities of child care centers. (b) The administrator need not meet the education and experience requirements of the director. (c) The administrator may carry out the following responsibilities: (1) All personnel matters. (2) Purchasing equipment and supplies. (3) All fiscal matters. (4) Supervision of maintenance. (d) If an administrator is not employed, these duties are the responsibility of the director.
