JOB SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Technician II (MHT) provides services to people who experience serious mental illness. This includes providing group and/or individual training on a variety of topics including social and coping skills and self-management. Provides service coordination and or linkage to community services that meet the needs of the individual patient/consumer and engages in crisis prevention and management as necessary. May work in the hospital, outpatient clinic, or community settings, including support provided in the home, at work/school, or in shelters.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences, including Criminal Justice, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, or Sociology is required.
(In lieu of degree in Behavioral Science, will accept bachelor's degree in nonrelated field, along with six (6) years of comparable job experience, with one (1) year of experience with the SPMI and/or Addictive Disease population, preferably in a full time status.)
A minimum of three (3) years of experience, with one (1) year of experience with the SPMI and/or Addictive Disease population, preferably in a full time status, is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or within 30-days of hire date.
Prefer candidates hold Certification in one of the following: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, or Certified Psychosocial Rehabilitation Professional (CPRP) from the United States Psychosocial Rehabilitation Association (USPRA).
