About The Role

The individual will work with the Pre-Construction and Estimating team. You will support and lead a number of higher-complexity project pursuits within our Seattle Northwest Buildings division, reporting to the Project Development Director. Oversee the estimating and budgeting process, schedule development and management, constructability, procurement, and management of client, consultant, and stakeholder relations from the start of a proposal / opportunity through to contract agreement for projects requiring pre-construction services.


As a Estimate Manager at Graham, you will:


  • Provide input to the business development process, assuring potential projects and clients are tracked

  • Communicate and collaborate with the owner and project stakeholders.

  • Oversee regular collaboration meetings with the owner and the pre-construction teams.

  • Develop and manage the budget and estimating requirements for the project.

  • Oversee all estimates, including detailed review of others’ work.
  • Review and approve risk mitigation plan, ensuring proper bonding and insurance costing and appropriate contingencies.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship throughout all aspects of the estimating process.
  • Oversee project scope of work reviews to ensure completeness of estimates and that all technical specifications, subcontractor scopes, and general condition items have been quantified and costed.
  • Propose and approve potential bid strategies, constructability requirements, and advantages or innovations to increase bidding success.
  • Confirm subcontractor bids as selected are clear of irregularities and ensure the full scope of work is included.
  • Participate in or lead the bid close of larger sized or more complex projects.
  • Review requirements, delegate work and assemble overall conceptual and budget costs using past project analytics, benchmarking, and historical data.
  • Develop scopes of work for subcontractors to provide budgeting assistance on larger and more complicated projects
  • Engage in subcontractor post award scope clarification and negotiation.
  • Manage the Kick-Off Meeting and weekly strategy meetings, and chair any formal meetings for large complex projects, ensuring the estimating process will meet the milestone dates established.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Completion of a Construction related Degree or Diploma training program
  • P.Eng, Project Management, and LEED certifications are assets.

  • 7-10 years of experience as a Project Manager, Estimator, or Construction Manager, including previous exposure to design-build, and other projects in an intermediate to senior position.

  • Experience working as a consultant in an engineering or architecture firm is an asset.

  • Good understanding and knowledge of design processes, construction matters, finance, and contracts.

  • Experience estimating Public Works projects is preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Excel, Primavera, Onscreen Takeoff, Bluebeam and BIM modelling is an asset
  • Thorough understanding of most contract types.
  • Proficiency in conceptual estimating, benchmarking, market testing, and knowledge of analytics related to project pursuits.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: 160k-180k
