Licensing/Compliance Specialist:

Gramercy Risk Management is an expanding insurance services firm headquartered in Uniondale, New York. We are currently seeking a Licensing specialist to assist in our Legal department. The Licensing Specialist/Compliance Specialist will primarily be responsible for assisting the General Counsel with licensing and regulatory compliance of Gramercy Risk Management and its affiliate companies. Currently, we look to fill the position in our main office, with some remote capability (3 days in office, 2 WFH).

Essential Job Functions:

• Prepare and submit initial applications and renewal filings for internal business entity licenses and employee individual licenses (Producer, Adjuster, Surplus Lines Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary, Managing General Agent, and Third Party Administrator).
• Liaise with employees, vendors, and insurance regulators via email and phone.
• Coordinate timely licensing and regulatory solutions to support new business initiatives.
• Assist General Counsel in managing retail broker and producer contracting process, including maintenance of existing retail brokers and appointment of new retail brokers.
• File corporate annual reports and biennial reports with secretary of state or equivalent in various jurisdictions.
• Understand and implement processes prescribed by various insurance regulators.
• Field licensing inquiries related to business entities and individuals.
• Draft digital and hard copy correspondence.
• Request payments to vendors and insurance regulators from accounting department and submit invoices for same.
• Gather licensing and compliance information through research.
• Complete special projects and assignments as needed.
• Maintain a robust current diary system for following up with and completing matters.
• Assist with various other compliance matters as needed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1-2 years of insurance licensing experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel.
• Familiarity with online platforms used by various states for insurance license filings, including NIPR, State Based Systems (SBS), and Sircon by Vertafore.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.
• Strong organizational and writing skills.
• A dedicated approach towards the execution of assignments.
• Performance of tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow established workflows and guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. The current range is $80,000-$100,000.
