- Serve as the primary public representative of the organization and engage with the local community, including town government, the school district, and non-profit organizations. This includes but is not limited to, tracking government meetings, school, and other community events.
- Attend community events on behalf of GCAM to promote the station and its offerings. Prepare for, schedule, and provide coverage of meetings including (but not limited to) setting up cameras, cables, and audio equipment, filming government meetings and community events, and editing video for publication on social media and cable access channels.
- Ensure proper programming on cable access channels and provide updates frequently to ensure that relevant and timely content is being broadcast.
- Train and supervise staff and/or volunteers on equipment operation and GCAM’s policy and procedures.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and attend monthly GCAM Board Meeting and provide a Director’s Report.
- Develop annual budget (operating and capital) in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
- Coordinate administrative details of the station’s operations, including managing supplies, equipment loans, scheduling, payroll, bookkeeping, and routine purchases.
- Use discretion to manage the daily operations of the station, bringing matters to the Board of Directors as appropriate.
- Identify and pursue alternative funding sources to include grants and fundraising.
- Communicate with neighboring community access stations for the purpose of sharing best practices and collaboration.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to lead a media project through pre and post-production, executing all intermediary steps.
- Ability to provide information to the community in person, by email, in writing, through social media, and by telephone.
- Possess knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to community access television.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in Communications, Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience strongly considered.
- Background in Community Media preferred.
- Ability to effectively build and follow a budget.
- Ability to train and manage staff in a professional manner.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Employment is contingent on a standard background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position requires ability to walk, stand, sit, talk and hear; uses hands to operate tools or controls. May need to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds such as equipment, supplies, etc. Vision and hearing must be at, or correctable to, normal ranges. EXPECTED SCHEDULE
This position is 32 hours per week, including regular evenings, weekends and/or holiday work. Attendance at a minimum of 1-2 evening events or meetings per week is required. Work will take place at the GCAM Offices as well as various locations throughout the Town of Granby, MA.
COMPENSATION
- Salary range: $41,600 to $49,920; commensurate with experience
- Mileage reimbursement when traveling to record or attend work related events provided at IRS rate.
- Paid Holidays (12), Vacation, and Sick Time.
