Teacher - Mentor Center

Full-time or Part-time Teachers needed at the Mentor Center.  Staff with a variety of academic specialities are needed, and especially math and science. This position is grant funded.

Terms of Employment:  Nine (9) months, academic school year

Qualifications:  As set by state certification authorities and local school board policy

Reports to:  Mentor Center Coordinator

Job Goal:  To assist students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual and emotional growth

MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following items are intended to define the minimum performance expectations of the teacher: 

1. Meets assigned students at the times designated by the immediate supervisor.

1. Develops and maintains positive relationships with students in order to effectively support and progress their academic skills and coursework. 

1. Supports and educates students through various assigned classes and assignments assigned by their home school teachers. 

1. Provides academic support based on the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. This should include, but are not limited to:

• Review of previously taught material, as needed
• Use of a variety of teaching materials and techniques
• Feedback of student progress on a regular basis 

1. Correlates individual instructional objectives with the philosophy, goals, and objectives stated for the district. 

1. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 

1. Maintains records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. 

1. Seeks assistance for students with special needs. 

1. Attends and participates in meetings. 

1. Cooperates with other members of the staff and/or district personnel in planning academic and social emotional support for students. 

1. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other staff members. 

1. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication. 

1. Utilizes and integrates technology in an efficient and effective manner for supporting the instructional program.  

1. Creates and teaches enrichment activities that align with program goals as necessary. 

1. Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities of a professional nature as assigned by the superintendent of schools or his/her designee.

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation by the Mentor Center Coordinator

This position will align with the Classified Employees Manual and not with the Teacher's Negotiated Agreement.
