Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Exhibit a passion for working with youth in a school environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with usage and integration of technology.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state K-12 career readiness curriculum.
  • Understand PBIS, MTSS, ACEs and Restorative Practices.
  • Able to develop Social Emotional Curriculum.
  • Work well with students, parents, staff, outside stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Willing and able to collaborate with district counselors to unify programming K-12.
  • Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Supports with 504 case management.
  • Able to positively and professionally respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Able to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sounds judgement, common sense, and a calm demeanor.
  • Participates in professional development, maintains appropriate certification and qualifications.
  • Adheres to district and school rules and procedures.
  • Conducts behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism.
  • Maintains regular predictable in-person attendance.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Possession of a Master’s or higher degree.
  • Valid Michigan teacher’s certificate with a School Counseling (NT) endorsement or School Counselor License (SCL).

 

Physical Demands

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 35 pounds such as books and other materials.


The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
