Reports to: Transportation Supervisor / Director of Operations
Salary: Dispatcher Pay Scale $35,000 - $54,950 with Benefits

Summary: Performs dispatching, routing, and organizational duties for the Transportation/Operations Department
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Dispatches the district’s fleet of buses and directs drivers with daily changes in routes. Inform drivers of weather/traffic conditions, and parent concerns.
- Coordinates bus replacements in case of emergencies & break downs.
- Responds to questions from staff, parents and students on transportation questions/concerns, procedures and regulations.
- Assists the transportation supervisor with bus route scheduling for regular runs, daily scheduled extra driving. Advise drivers of changes to runs as necessary.
- Assists when needed by assigning trips and scheduled activities. Assigns substitute drivers to cover absences and reassignment of other drivers.
- Assists in maintaining employee records including Driver’s licenses, Medical cards and continuing education.
- Assists in maintaining fuel records and other local and state required records and reports.
- Maintains inventory of keys, video cameras, and tapes.
- Assists with recording attendance and payroll processing.
- Collects data and assists in maintaining the computerized routing system used on a daily basis.
- Drives bus in emergencies or when required.
- Attends professional meetings as required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Must pass a Department of Transportation physical
- Skills that exemplify high level of computer proficiency and application of technology (including creating data reports from multiple sources, proficient in Google Sheets/Excel) and display the ability to work effectively with district staff and members of the community.
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively, exercise judgment and creativity, organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure with constant disruptions, and minimal supervision.
- Ability to schedule and organize work assignments to ensure timely and effective completion.
- Must possess CDL with Class B or higher with P.S. Endorsements.
- Must be able to fully utilize the transportation routing software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Dispatch/ Router experienced preferred – Routefinder by Transfinder (will train)
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk and hear; frequently required to walk and stand. Frequently required to reach with hands and use repetitive hand and arm motion as in typing and writing. Close vision abilities are required. May occasionally be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment: A climate-controlled office with moderate to high noise levels. The employee interacts continuously with staff and parents. The employee frequently will be required to meet multiple demands from several people.
Evaluation: Job performance is evaluated in accordance to district guidelines by the supervisor.
