The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for collecting, processing, storing, and delivering medical-surgical supplies and equipment. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the reprocessing of all sterile and non-sterile materials, instruments, and equipment for surgery and other hospital units. They are responsible for manual cleaning and decontamination; operating the mechanical washers and sonic units; testing autoclaves for efficiency and maintaining compliant records. The Sterile Processing Technician assists in the recall process as needed.
Education and Experience:High School Diploma/GED required Over 6 months to 1 year Hospital experience preferredLicenses and Certifications:*CRCST through HSPA or CBSPD, Upon hire, required
*For all new hires effective December 28, 2020 - must achieve certified registered central service technician credential or a certified sterile processing and distribution technician credential. within 18 months of hire date and must annually complete ten hours of continuing education related to the functions of a central service technician.
